    Process improvements not only lead to better productivity but also contribute directly to a firm’s profits and revenues. Methodologies like Lean Management / Six Sigma / Theory of Constraints, when used appropriately, have the potential to transform work areas leading to higher job satisfaction for the individual and lower turnover rate for the organization. This workshop is designed to equip you with some simple tools, data analysis skillset and jargon to effectively implement process improvement in your organization. Get your laptops that have Microsoft Excel installed in it.

    At the end of the workshop you will be able to:

    1. Distinguish between Lean / Six Sigma / Theory of Constraint methodologies
    2. Draw a well-defined process map
    3. Analyze data using simple descriptive / predictive statistics using Microsoft Excel
    4. Use visual management techniques to solve a problem  

    Deepak Iyengar, PhD, University of Maryland College Park, is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management at Central Washington University (CWU). His teaching and research interests include lean and six sigma processes, supply chain sustainability and logistics. He has mentored and has been directly involved with around 100 projects in the area of lean / six sigma implementation. Deepak’s projects and teaching experience has been across manufacturing, service industries, not for profit organizations and Governmental organizations in the U.S., India and Qatar. He has authored several academic research papers and has also been involved in writing books and book chapters in the area of logistics and supply chain. He has been instrumental in starting up the Greenbelt Lean Six Sigma Certification program at CWU.
